Hello!
I (33F) am currently an employment counsellor for youth and while I do like my job, I’m not particularly fond of how sedentary it is. I enjoy making the connections with my participants, and providing them the support and resources that they would benefit from, but being at my desk all day is the one thing I didn’t envision for myself. I reached where I am because I’m capable of doing my job, but I don’t see myself working an office type job like this for the rest of my professional life.
I have looked into other professions and fell upon chiropractic, athletic therapy, occupational therapy, and physiotherapy. I’m in Canada, so the pathways for each profession is different compared to the US aka physical therapy not being a doctoral here. I wanted to do kinesiology back when I was doing my undergrad, but I was too far in to change majors again. After reflecting and watching a lot of chiro videos, I want to pursue that the most.
I’m looking to pursue that first only if I get the funding I’m looking into. If I can’t get funding for the academics, then I’ll look into the other professions. Really, I’m looking to go back to school if I get the funding I’ve had discussions about with my employment worker, otherwise I’ll try to find a different career with my experience.
After that long spiel, what I’m looking for is assistance to find my secondary option if chiro falls through. If funding falls through, I’d like to know what other professions I can go into with experience in peer counselling, case management, reporting, and tasks related to a receptionist.
Thanks!
