Tried to make Tidus a black mage and he's doing terrible damage. Is it too late to go back?

So I'm at mushroom rock road, and I've been using the expert sphere grid. Ive put Tidus past Lancet, and onto Lulu's path (I stopped him at thunder). He's doing awful damage with his spells. Should I reload a save or can the damage be undone with some grinding???
(Honestly I'm not trying to grind for hours but my last save is pretty far back lol(
