Final Cut Pro on Macbook Air 13.3'?
Post Body

Hi guys... going to be traveling around Europe next year, wanting to make weekly Youtube vids. For mobility, I want something light, like a Macbook Air. I'm seeing some now on Groupon for 500 bucks, and thinking it would be good. Only thing is, I'm not sure how well/terribly FCP would run on the thing. 8 GB RAM, 128 GB storage, etc. Does anyone have experience editing on this thing? Thanks!

It highly depends on the resolution of the footage you're editing. It probably wouldn't have much problem editing footage from a smartphone or a simple point and shoot. From bigger DSLRs or Mirrorless cameras, it may be harder. (Granted, 4k footage from a smartphone may be harder to edit than low bitrate 1080p footage from a low-end DSLR/Mirrorless.

It'll be much easier to edit when you use proxy files as well, so make sure to do that if you do end up getting the Macbook Air. I think Kraig Adams did some editing with a Macbook Air, but I think there's also a big difference between using the newer generation ones and the older ones (with the thicker silver bezels).
