Im new in video editing so if my way of working when setting up a new project is bad, tell me :

- I create a folder with the name of the video montage project

- Inside the folder, i put the Library (i call it a project even if apple decide to use ''project'' for the timeline). And a folder for Audio, Graphics and most importantly all video and camera MP4 footages.

- Inside final cut, I create two events Export : where i create my ''project'' (Timeline). And Footage where i drag and drop mp4 footage from my mac project folder.

I drag and drop audio and graphics (images, logos, etc) directly in smart collection if i dont have a lot of files. If i do have a lot, i will create an event for Audio and an event for Graphics. As you can see, i try to have the exact same structure in final cut then i have in my Project mac folder.

I work directly on my company computer because it is faster and have huge space disk. But when im done, i need to move done projects to my company external disk. I want to maximize external drive space.

For this montage here below. Before moving it on my external drive, i deleted all footage inside final cut Footage event. Then i delete footages inside my mac project folder (Footage MP4). Then i deleted all Final cut Backups from this Library in ''Movies'' mac section.

Why when i open it from my external drive everything is this there in the timeline ? This means when i put something in the timeline (video footage, photos, music, etc) Final cut will save it and even if i delete the source from my computer and from all events in the library, it will still open intact ? THANKS!!!
