I'm a Graphic Designer in the vinyl sign industry. I make stickers, signs, vehicle graphics, etc. I've been a fan of fighters for almost 30yrs and I'm interested in getting into the FGC art community. I have access to several large format printers and I'm able to design and print art for not only fight sticks, but hopefully whole arcade cabinets as well. I had some questions I was hoping other artists could give me information on.
1: How many of you are printing and shipping art yourself? I have the resources to print, laminate, cut and ship but I'm curious how common that is vs sending someone a file, and having them print themselves. I understand that probably depends on the customer but I'm wondering which is more common.
2: I've seen art under plexiglass done on paper and PVC cards. Is anyone printing directly into the card or are you laying a decal onto the card separately? Not sure how many people have access to something like that, also, how thick can sheets for artwork be before they interfere with clip in buttons? I'd hate to send someone a product that doesn't work for their setup.
3: For buyers, whats a service you would like provided you don't normally see? What niche needs filled?
The FGC has always been good to me and I'd like to be able to give back to some extent. And information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
