Creating my own 5-pin cable for a HORI from an existing USB cable -- is it possible?
Post Body

I want to mod a fight stick so that I can use a detachable cable. I intend to remove the default cable from my Hori stick(5-pin to USB A male) and replace it with a cable with a USB-C female port. I want to use a Type C cable phone cable to use with the stick basically.

I got the idea from here. However for my stick, the distance between the board and the cable hole is very short (about 5 inches) so I need to achieve this using a single cable as opposed to multiple cables and a converter/adapter like what the OP did.

Can I cut the the USB-A male part of a USB-A male to USB-C female cable and solder it to the board or attach it to a 5-pin connector. Would that work? Are all USB cables 5-pin?

the 5-pin order is V, D-, D , GND and GND5.
