Will this grow if I cut it below the fork ? Where there is no leaves ?

This fiddle leaf is pretty gangly . I would like to cut it off below the fork to get a much bushier plant , but I don't want to kill it ? Do they tend to kick on and throw new leaves / branches from a bare trunk ? Any help appreciated.
