Tanks And Healers Damage Contribution Needs To Be Lowered Or Removed In Dawntrail: Removing The Stress Off Non-Damage Dealing Roles; Over Working Of Tanks And Healers
Post Body

We all know the name of game is dps all the time but it feels like this is more of a everybody responsibility and not just the dps. The responsibility they're supposed to care of.

Lots of fights are never designed around just purely dps roles damage. It's designed around everybody.

I feel in Dawntrail this needs to be fixed and take the weight off tanks and healers. Tanks and healers have their own reasonability but dps is the only one that has it the easiest. Will this make the game more difficult or easier? Possibly but will it make it more fair where the dps has to pull their own weight? Yes it would.

The way it is now, tanks and healers have to work harder than dps do. Tanks have to position bosses, tank swap and mitigation tank busters all while trying to keep a consistent damage rotation because if they don't, in difficult battles it's a difference in hitting enrage or not in ultimate battles. Same goes with healers who I think have it the hardest. Sure they only have two damage spells but healers are the only roles where they have to play almost perfect compared to other roles in high level duties. If they die, it's sometimes basically over in high level content. Usually ultimate. They have to make up for people mistakes by tossing them a heal or wasting a ton of mana raising them or using a important cool down to instantly heal. All while trying to squeeze out damage because if they don't, you'll not meet the dps check.

The current system is extremely unfair to tanks and healers that have to work overtime while dps live in luxury.

This isn't a easy thing to fix because it's either lower the boss HP values so it's fitted to only take in consideration dps damage numbers or they make tank and healer damage numbers higher to lower how much actions they need to do to be consistent in attacking the boss. I'm sure more would be in favor of just buffing the damage of tank and healers as stronger attacks will make it so they don't have to play perfectly assuming they don't adjust the enemies hp values to compensate for the increase of damage but I'm talking about if they were to keep it as it is now.

Damage Dealers have it way too easy, it's the easiest role in the entire game because everybody shares it's responsibility. You don't even have to be the best dps because the healer and tanks can do your job for you while also doing their own role jobs. A dps could be dead on the floor for 20min and a healer and tanks could make up for their damage.

I understand that making dps responsibility too stressful will make the game too difficult but I believe if you're doing raids then there is no excuse. This isn't a problem in non raid settings. Only one in things like savage. I know people are going to say since it's savage tanks and healers should be dpsing and if that's your logic. Then dps should be kitting adds more for tanks and more fights should have mobs that need the dps to pull away from the party.

Stuff coil had back in ARR.

But that's not the case anymore in modern FFXIV. Dps have no reasonability anymore, they just stand still and hit the boss while tanks and healers do everything. I don't understand how people are ok with this gameplay.

I understand some tanks and healers might like this stress but this a big reason nobody plays these roles and just flock to dps. If CBU3 wants more people playing these roles they need to even out the responsibilities. Dps need to actually do their role and not share it with tanks and healers.

The stress needs to be lifted off tanks and healed and let dps actually do what they're designed to do. If CBU3 refuses to do this then battle design needs to be changed to where there are more battles where dps have to do more than just sit behind the boss and attack, they should have more tank like mechanics. Pulling aggro, kiting bosses/mobs, Ect.

I know a comment is coming about if you're doing high end content tanks and healers should be doing lots of damage and that's a good point.

However.

Why is it tanks and healed have to do that AND do intense healing, spot on mitigations, debuffing, positioning and more? They have to do all that while doing the dps job which is doing lots of damage.

Another question people might say is dps rotation are more complex and no...no it's not. Harder than tanks sure but is it so hard it justifies the over work of tanks and healers? No it doesn't. We have jobs like smn, rpr and mch. Which are the most popular jobs due to how easy they are.

One more question I'll probably see is some jobs like physical range have to do party wide mits and that's true but the times they have to do it is spares, same goes for melee and casters doing addle and faint which in melee case is barely even needed most of the time since everything is magical mostly and doing it is mostly for insurance.

Overall Dawntrail needs to be more fair to healer/ tanks and put more stress on dps to do their designed roles. We've gone on too long with everything being put on the tanks and healers shoulders. We'll see when 7.0 hits and hopefully something does change. (I forgot to mention ninja actually use to have lots of responsibilities, in fact all dps "ninja still more so" did when they had to manage their aggro but that's gone now.)
