Why The 2Minute Meta Is Great And Will Continue In 7.X

Post Body

I'm just going to start off with my points.

2min meta is good not only for the devs but for raids and any battle encounter.

It allows the devs to better design fights with more knowledge when the damage output is going out and adjust what the boss does accordingly. Such as having the boss just auto for a bit or not having them jump at annoying times Pulling off very hectic mechanics for example.

2min meta also helps bridge the gap between low skilled players and higher skilled players.

Basically lowering the skill ceiling.

FFXIV isn't a very hard game, ((In terms of playing your job)).

But some people struggle. 2min helps lower skilled players compete with higher skilled players by allowing them to sync up their buffs at optimal times. Specifically people that care about doing well and at least trying.

Common complaints I hear is 2min makes jobs feel the same.

Allow me to disprove that.

Tell me.... Does Monk and Reaper play the same?

Does Samurai and Ninja play the same?

Though yes, every job has their 2min come up at the same time; How you achieve that two min is different, thus making every job feel unique. No job feels the same.

Another complaint against 2min is dying just ruins your rotation and out of syncs you with the rest of the party. This is true but wouldn't this be the same if a job had a 1min, 3min or even 4?

No matter what, your rotation is screwed if you die. Don't blame this is on 2mins. I never understood why this is a scapegoat. Dying is suppose to punish you.

What I also see a lot is 2min doesn't allow flexibility with raid buffs and burst. While this is true this wouldn't change anything at all.

If you played FFXIV in the past; A ninja would always hold their trick attack for each burst window even if they got theirs early/or the party would hold their burst, and same goes with chain or any buffs. This is NO DIFFERENT than 2mins.

FFXIV jobs are very static, you'll always follow a set rotation, 1min or 3min will not change this. FFXIV has never had this mythical flexibility people like to preach.

So it really makes me wonder...do people just like seeing their buffs early even though in a coordinated group you're not going to press it anyway?

The only benefit is see for early buffs is if the boss is about to die and you need to blow everything.

I'm sure there are more point but to not make this post too long I'll yeld here.

2 minute meta is going to continue onto 7.X because not only is it very well balanced and basically a stroke of genius on the dev team part.

It's great for the battle designers and the battle content as a whole and balancing jobs.

There are more savage and ultimate clears than ever and this is because the game became more friendly to the players learning.
