I was slightly confused about how the subscription model works for FFXIV. I’m currently a free player (trial user) playing with the new update as of today, but I wanted to know what happens exactly if I sub to the game and then randomly decide one day to end my subscription.

If I lose or end my subscription to the game does it basically lock me out of playing ANYTHING in FFXIV? Or am I still allowed to log in and play my characters and do non-subscription content?

In other words, am I allowed to still own and play stuff in the game that don’t require expansions or subs (e.g., trial content or something that free users can do) if my sub ends? Or does the game lock me out completely until re-subscription again?
