Also, Puppet's Bunker is 465.
This is about the same sort of iLvl jump from the main Shadowbringers MSQ to the Grand Cosmos, so up-front it seems like it's not a huge deal, but I remember even grinding up to 455 for Ruby Weapon was... well, a grind. And the options are unfortunately more restricted this time around since we're near the upper limit of iLvl gear that's available.
So for those of you who wanted to get right into the the new content, there might be an iLvl gate for you.
Here are the easiest ways to get your item level bumped above 465 reliably:
- If you haven't done the Resistance Weapon quest yet, do it now. It does require you to have done the Stormblood alliance raids. However, the storyline is great (Memoria Miseria is a spectacular plot-important duty once you hit the bosses proper), and just as importantly you'll earn a 485 weapon.
- If you have the gil and not the time, you might want to start nabbing the 480 Neo-Ishgardian gear before it all inevitably vanishes from the market on Tuesday. (Godspeed, crafters.)
- If you've got time this weekend, Tomes of Allegory are your best bet, letting you earn iLvl 490 gear. You can most easily earn these from Duty Roulettes but that'll be slower; you can also earn them from Level 80 Treasure Maps, FATEs, S-Rank hunts, and Pixie Tribe Quests!
- In theory Eden's Verse is your best bet for general 480 gear, but unfortunately if you haven't been grinding this already, there are weekly restrictions of one drop earned per trial per week, and you need to trade multiple drops for certain items. However, that only lasts until next week's patch drops, so if you want to wait that out and just unlock that and grind it, that's not a bad option.
- Phantasmagoria only gets you 460 gear, and Copied Factory is also only 460, but if you've been running Copied Factory a lot then the Manufactured Coins will let you upgrade the 460 Phantasmagoria/Deepshadow gear to 470. Probably not your best bet, but just in case you have those Coins laying around. (EDIT: A friend brought up the fact that next patch you can use your Manufactured Coins to upgrade Crystarium gear. So you can always wait that out, but again, at the cost of... waiting.)
Let me know if I missed anything! A lot of this is focused on stuff players can do immediately, not so much regarding the upcoming patch changes, so I might make a follow-up post once the new patch arrives (or during the downtime based on patch notes).
And no, I'm not going to tell patch resubs to learn to Savage, you savage tryhards.
