What does buying FFXIV for $20 base get you?

Hey guys I tried the free trial a while back, never went through with buying the game due to the wild GC in early levels. Long story short: I want to give it another go here. I’m hearing from some places that the game is FTP but then $14/month after level 35, but the website only shows an option for $20.

If I buy that, is it $20 every month just for this game? Do I get any expansions with that? What restrictions are there? Just trying to see if it’ll be worth it to jump into a new MMO at that price point.
