In ARR we had 6 primals each representing one of the six elements.

• Ifrit for Fire
• Titan for Earth
• Garuda for Wind
• Leviathan for Water
• Ramuh for Thunder
• Shiva for Ice

Now one could think that we have already used up the element theme for Primals, but when you talk to Unukalhai he says that Bisrmark and Ravana are still tied to specific elements except they are tied to two elements instead of one.

In this thread I'm trying to figure out if all the trial Primals in Heavensward are tied to two elements and which ones. Excluding Nidhogg (which is not a Primal) we have exactly six trial Primals: Bismark, Ravana, Thordan, Sephirot, Sophia, Zurvan.

Now let's start with the easy ones: Bismark is quite clearly tied to Water and Wind elements. Sure there's a thunder hazard too, but the Sanuwa and the debuffs they put on the party are Water and Wind, so I think we can settle on those. Ravana is Earth and Fire, and here there are no margins of doubts because Unukalhai himself tells us so. Next is Zurvan, the latest Primal, which is without a shadow of doubt tied to Fire and Ice.

Sephirot is slightly harder to figure out, but I would say that the magical and physical debuffs he applies to the party as well as the two orbs are Wind and Earth based.

This leaves us with Thordan and Sophia. The former uses many different attacks, but among those we can clearly identify Thunder and Ice attacks. There are Meteors and red aoe, but do those qualify as Fire? Regarding Sophia however we can only identify Thunder attacks, and maybe Ice, but it's not really her that uses the Ice, it's an add.

Anyway putting all together on a list:

• Bismark - Wind - Water
• Ravana - Fire - Earth
• Thordan - Thunder - Ice ???
• Sephirot - Wind - Earth
• Sophia - Thunder - ???
• Zurvan - Fire - Ice

Now looking at that there does seem to be a pattern if we assume the guesses are correct: "Each element is used twice and no more than twice."

However if the pattern was true then Sophia should be tied to Thunder and Water, and while her thunder attacks are plentiful I don't think there's anything that indicates she uses water attacks.
