It can't be denied that the DPS role seems to be favored a lot more by the playerbase at large. That is quite noticeable both by the queue times of regular light and full parties and the amount of requests for new jobs to be DPS instead of Tank and Healer.
the Tank-DPS-Healer ratio that we have now (1-2-1) doesn't seem to reflect the actual preference distribution among players.
So would it have been better if the ratio was 1-3-1?
Now I imagine a lot of you would say "yes", but I ask you to take a while to consider the disadvantages of that.
Unfortunately the ratio (for a light party) can only be changed by adding one more DPS since you can't have less than 1 tank or less than 1 healer. And that means increasing the number of players for a light party from 4 to 5.
The ratio was in fact changed for full parties in 24-man instances where DPS end up having less queue times, but ideally you'd want to have the same ratio requirements for every instance.
Changing a light party from 4 to 5 would mean that a full party would change from 8 to 10 and a full alliance from 24 to 30.
You'd have 2 more members needed for a static, and the higher the number of people in a static the higher would be the related problems (i.e. there would be more people that might suddenly not be able to play, have lag problems or other shit on a given raid day). And PUGs would require more people in raids and trials where it takes only 1 person not doing her job to screw up everything.
What are your thoughts?
TL;DR Would it be better to have more DPS slots, or is it better to maintain the current low member requirement?
