Nocturnal AST and Critical, is that the best stat?

I was looking at BiS sets for AST and I came across this page: http://www.ffxivguild.com/ffxiv-astrologian-ast-bis-best-in-slot-end-game-gear-guide/

Here the author goes by the assumption that a diurnal AST's BiS will be more or less like a WHM's BiS, which I more or less agree with, and that a nocturnal AST's BiS will be more or less like a SCH's BiS, which... leaves me skeptical to say the least.

Now we know that in a WHM's case the favorite stats are DET and SS, while in a Scholar's case it's CRIT all the way.

The rationales for that, as I've always known them, is that while critical might increase the healing output more than DET on average, it is not reliable enough to be used efficiently and that in the few cases where it procs there's a high chance that the bonus will be wasted in overheals.

Scholars however still favor Critical because they have not one but two uniques mechanics that rely on that stat. The first is Adloquium which is twice as strong when it crits, the second is the "enhanced pet action trait", which gives a spell speed bonus when the pet crits.

Now, what if scholars didn't have those, would they still favor CRIT over DET?

The answer to this question would also tell us whether a nocturnal AST truly benefits more from one or the other.

The only argument that I can see in favor of CRIT is that a critted shield won't have a chance to go wasted like normal cures can.

But is that enough to claim that nocturnal ASTs should pack on CRIT? What do you think?
