Hall of the novice impressions

Post Body

So I just did all of the hall of the novice missions, just to know what SE is teaching to the scrubs we're going to find in DF.

Tank was mostly okay but:

  • It says nothing about the importance of positioning and facing the monster away from your allies.
  • It doesn't tell you that the least you move the better it is. Unfortunately the assigned ally DPS is an archer so...

Healer

  • I went in as scholar. Nobody told me that I should have taken out my fairy, so I didn't.
  • The instructor actually tells new healer players that barely hit lvl15 that it's fine to DPS when it's safe to do so? Color me impressed.
  • Final battle: "how to heal a group of people that can't dodge an aoe to (literally) save their lives". Sounds legit.

DPS

  • Laziness from SE part here. For the tanks at least they teach you how to do combo, here they say nothing, probably because BRDs do not need to do those. They don't even tell you about various debuff, buff on yourself or dots that you should apply.
  • On the multiple target training I used my dot on multiple targets, the Instructor told me I should only focus on the tank's target, fucking scrub!
  • There's actually a mission that tells you how to deal with mechanics. but why DPS only?
  • Final mission, I managed to grab hate from the tank on the last goobbue boss. Considering it's a simulation of what you'll likely get on your first dungeon, that's pretty accurate.
