Just because it's not hurting gameplay doesn't mean it's not affecting other aspects of the game. FFXIV is more than just battle content.

Mare synchronos or better just known as mare, is a tool people use to share codes so they can see each others modded characters and animations. Pretty much anything they modded, you can now see it. Now this might sound harmless and you're probably thinking who cares?

Well the problem is many, many players has kinda made this mandatory to talk to them. People don't even talk anymore. Their opening line is just "mare?" "Moon?" People are also far too comfortable asking to the point they list it in their search info. People just forgot that they're basically putting a target on their back saying "I use mods" Mare is the reason so many nightclubs are around, mare is the reason the degeneracy of the community has sky rocketed.

With Dawntrail fast approaching and thankfully all mods and plugins breaking. I hope CBU3 finds a way to prevent it from working. Players are too comfortable with using a third party launcher and using mare and freely showing off their cosmetic mods. Even to the point people are streaming with it on. You could say it's SE fault for letting it get so bad. I know people will be upset if mods ever got axed but the characters already look good as they are now as CBU3 intended. You don't need to make your character look like something out of cyberpunk.

I do want to point out this is mainly a problem within the western/English speaking community.

We don't have this problem in the Japanese data centers mostly because if people are using mods, they're extremely discreet about it because if you're caught using mods the community usually harasses you very badly until you quit and if you're lucky, they get bored. I'm not German or French so I can't say how it is in their communities.

But when I use my NA character which I use more than my main at this point, it's filled with people having mare in their search info like it's part of the FFXIV NA culture. It's disturbing just how lewd people are now and something needs to be done because I'm tired of getting asked if I got mare and people wanting to be lewd with my character by using sex animations on me.

I'm really curious as to why Western/English speaking players are so open to mare to the point they have no shame in displaying it publicly. Does anybody know? Is it because English gms are not doing anything so people feel comfortable? What is it? And do you feel it's out of control?

Mare is ruining the social aspect and public appearance of FFXIV as Twitter is filled to the brim with NSFW pictures of people characters having sex and wearing lewd things. People even use custom faces now too which usually look extremely terrible and sometimes you can't even tell it is FFXIV which is a good thing I suppose.
