Login locked due to use of VPN

Earlier I had gotten an e-mail about suspicious login activity on my account. At first I was worried, but then I realized I've dusted off my VPN and it was probably noticing that I'm connected from a different state. I was wondering how I can go about getting my account unlocked or marking it as a false flag or something of that nature? The e-mail just suggested I reset my password but I'm scared if I do that it will just happen again. Thanks for any help in advance.
