So, FF strikes me as an early industrialish fantasy. Minus the odd player mounts it's mostly steeds (chocobos), swords, early guns, lamp posts, trains. A bit of magic, of course, but I'd pin the "time frame" somewhere around early industrial.
Then I saw the train tracks. https://imgur.com/82A0Owg
Those are not early industrial train tracks.
My first thought was it's made in Japan, and they embraced high speed rail in a way the US never did. Maybe these are fancy bullet train, maglev, awesome sauce tracks. So I looked up Japanese train tracks on Google, and ... no, those all pretty much look like train tracks. In as much as there are two rails, not three.
So then I asked google, what kind of trains are there in FF14? Apparently the only one you ever see is a reference to 6's (3's) phantom train, which WAS early industrial (bit stylized), and had early industrial tracks.
There are "third rail" trains, but most of them don't really look like rails, or are off-center. The only three rail trains I can find picture of that look like this are airport trains in London. And model trains.
Is it possible FF14 canonically uses model trains? The London airport train would be so much less cool.
