I've been looking at adding a final 4th member to my business. My 3 girls are all Petco ferrets, but I figured why buy new if I can help a ferret get a home, and help someone who cant provide a ferret a home with one.
I go on craigslist, almost every ferret people are rehoming in my area come with a rehoming fee of $250-400... if I wanted to spend that much money, I'd buy a new baby, not take one in. Something bothers me about people charging a rehoming fee for ferrets. I'll take your baby in and provide them a good life, but if you're at the stage where they need rehomed due to whatever reason, Im not going to fork out $400 to help you due to the fact you need to rehome your ferret.
Maybe I'm in the wrong, I want to hear opinions. I wouldnt mind paying 100$ to take your ferret off your hands due to the fact you can no longer care for them, but anything above that, pisses me off.
TLDR, IMO - Rehoming should be a favor to the current owner as getting to that point of rehoming means something caused you to not be able to fully care for the animal. If I am already taking in your animal you can't provide for, it is outragous to charge me a huge sum ontop of that. Rehoming is not a business.
Love to hear thoughts or view points that may open up my mind.
Extra note - When I say

I more so mean older ferrets, if yourr ferret is 1 year old and you want $300 for it, Im more likely to consider it than a 4 year old ferret for $300. All ferrets deserve a good life however, I just think if you cant provide your ferret a good life, charging huge sums of money to get them one is something I disagree with.
