Lids on aerobic ferments?

When making ferments that require aerobic conditions (kombucha, miso, etc) do loose fitting lids provide sufficient airflow for the ferment?
I have a beautiful ceramic jar lid that Iād much rather have on my countertop for 1year while I make miso. Obviously I can use a fabric lid instead (and I will if necessary) but Iād love to keep the aesthetic of the jar unadulterated if possible.
