Turmeric preventing activity?

Hey y’all,
I’ve got a few batches of fermented citrus going (kumquat and lemons with different spice mixes) and the only ones not showing a lot of activity are the ones with higher turmeric content. All the others are puffing up nicely in their vac-seal bags (especially the kumquats). Also, the two inactive bags have more citrus in them than the others, could this be a factor?
Anyone know what could be going on?
