Unfortunately yesterday, I received a call from my mother telling me that my cousin, as well as her two friends had passed of an overdose and were found 2 days later. Now, I wasn’t the closest with my cousin, but we were similar enough in age that whenever I would visit my hometown, her and I would talk about typical young adult stuff(partying, relationships, drugs etc), but would never go into enough detail for either she or I to know how much of what the other was doing. However, based off of the times we have talked and what other cousins of mine have told me , she was the party type. By party type, I mean the type to go out to clubs , get shit faced, maybe a e pill every once in a while and coke. That being said, I very highly doubt she had any interest in opiates at all and after reading the overdose statistics for Pittsburgh(my hometown) this year, 89% of all overdoses involving cocaine were due to fentanyl. While we are still waiting to hear exactly what it was, the fact that 3 young women with no interest in opiates at all end up dead from an overdose screams fent, which leaves me with my question: Can somebody please explain the incentive for lacing cocaine with fentanyl?
