Did Fender change their version of Lake Placid Blue?

My 97 American standard is Lake Placid Blue. It’s been properly stored out if the sunlight. But now when I see Fenders in LPB, is seems like it’s a much more royal blue, mine is a little more grey.
I know in 1997 they used GM paint, did they get a new supplier? David Hilowitz has a video where he repaints a mustang in Lake Placid Blue to match the one in the Teen Spirit video, and comments that it doesn’t look the same to him either…
What gives?
