Around 9 months ago I bought an Am Pro II Jazzmaster from a reputable retailer here in the UK. It came with a Fender hardcase, which I was pleased about as I planned to transport my new guitar fairly regularly and possibly gig with it.
I've been delighted with everything about the guitar....apart from the case. I don't know how old it is, but the plastic is incredibly brittle and has been shattering from even very light use (in and out of a car, no banging/being stacked etc). It's gotten to the point where one of the hinges and one of the locks have now come away, and the case is pretty much unusable.
I know the main thing is that the guitar is good quality, but I'm really disappointed in the QC on the case. This is by far the most expensive guitar I've ever bought, and I would have expected everything to do with it to be of at least the bare minimum quality. I'm now looking at shelling out for a good third party hardcase.
Does anyone have a similar experience? Is this a known issue? I suspect the case isn't covered by the warranty, but has anyone had any luck with it?
