EXTREME novice here. Want to hang a cute shelf on my chimney breast. How to do so?
Post Body

Bought this cute honeycomb shelf from World Market. Two brackets on the shelf to, presumably, drill two holes into the wall. Here's the mount and skinny screw it came with.

I think since it's above the fireplace, I have an inch of drywall surrounding brick or whatnot. Because after an inch or so, my drill refuses to go further no matter how hard I press. Here's what the holes look like.

Do you think I can go to Home Depot, find shorter versions of the black screws, and screw directly into the wall and maybe this bad boy will stay up there?
