How to do business casual with an industrial or utilitarian edge
Post Body

I just got an office job with a dress code after 3.5 years working remotely, which has dumped me directly into my late 20s with not much more than threadbare fast fashion, goth clubwear, band tees, and skirts that are way too short. I have some dresses but nothing for fall or winter. Bare arms, jeans and sneakers seem to be OK at this office, but obviously no graphic shirts, shorts or hoodies.

Iā€™ve tried going to Macys, Banana Republic, Nordstrom Rack etc but I have less than zero interest in the clothing so Iā€™ve spent like 6 hours buying two black shirts lol. I have a pretty good idea of what I want but donā€™t know what brands to search for.

  • Colors: mostly neutral black, grey (non-heathered), olive. I also like saturated jewel tones (green/red) and pastels (pink/lilac).
  • Interesting cutouts, drawstrings, hardware, straps, pockets, etc.
  • Subtle nods to utilitarian, military, or techwear fashion but in a ā€œclassierā€ office friendly fabric and cut (Iā€™m thinking like bombers or cargo pants with a slim fit and different fabric).
  • Prints reminiscent of an industrial or organic texture
  • Interesing textures (silky, fuzzy, rough, etc)
  • ā€œMuseum gift shopā€ type jewelry if that makes any sense lol

Stuff I already own: https://www.pinterest.com/ass_master_general/office-fashion/

If anyone could give searchable words to these amorphous ideas Iā€™d be forever grateful!
