How to dress for a dinner party with the guy I rejected but now like? (1813)
Post Body

Long story short, this guy proposed to me last April and I turned him down. He gave me a letter of explanation, which at first I doubted, but then it changed my entire worldview. Turns out I never knew him or myself! Then I went to his house (not in a weird way, it's like going to a museum and I did check that he wasn't home), and he showed up and was super nice to me. Crazy right? But I had to leave suddenly because my sister eloped with this absolute jerk..

This story is hard to shorten... anyway, I found out my rejected gentleman saved my sister and paid for her marriage (she spilled the beans, he wanted to do it in secret). Now he's coming for dinner. How do I dress in a way that says, "I am so grateful you saved my sister and my entire family, but I also don't want to embarrass you about it, but also I'm totally in love with you now and if you proposed again I swear I would accept"?

I've got four sisters (three at home) and we're all kind of the same size, so I have a really good selection of gowns. I just can't decide what colour and accessories will get my message across.

Update: Thank you for all the encouragement! I wore a blue sprigged muslin that looked very becoming, but unfortunately we ended up at different card tables that evening and weren't really able to talk (I did ask about the health of his sister).

Then I got reamed out by his aunt (random I know) and he showed up and proposed again! Turns out his feelings had not changed; I was worried for nothing. And I did explain my change of feelings once we were alone, as suggested.
