Why is it always steel or leather?
Post Body

I understand that steel and leather look really good on camera, and many of us have a fetish for these materials as restraints, but why are they the only ones used for chastity belts that are ostensibly designed for long-term wear in a modern lifestyle? Are there any commercially available belts made with, for example, canvas or nylon webbing? What about Kevlar? It seems obvious to me that a belt made with any of these materials would:

  • be more easily adjusted, or even tailored, to fit the individual.
  • bend as the wearer moves without compromising "protection".
  • clean more thoroughly and efficiently in the shower.
  • not set off metal detectors.

I can easily imagine a couple different designs based on athletic protectors, so why are these not being sold?

EDIT to add that I'm aware of plastic and 3D print belts, but am specifically asking about belts (or rather, the lack thereof) made from more traditional materials that are commonly found in the apparel industry.
