Edit: this is not a program of record.
Inexperienced PM demands final say on technical matters he doesn’t understand, at even a basic level. Who has final call: PM or Technical Lead?
Sorry, this is long, DOD civilian here and most experienced person in my program-developing electronic warfare software. My PM (57M) does not have any experience in either EW or software, in any fashion. I (44M) have 25 years in EW and radio frequency tech, on the tactical side and in development as a civilian. The next most experienced person has 2 years as a civilian engineer.
We often clash on the technical direction and priorities of our program. I’ve been on board for 8 months and in 4 years of existence, the program has not delivered any capability. I have been busting my butt to get this program straightened out but I can’t see how unless he relinquishes decision making on technical matters.
I’m deeply conflicted and exhausted. Thank you for your time reading this and offering your perspectives.
