The Salukis of Southern Illinois had a huge bounce back after the loss against the SDSU Jackrabbits. The Dawgs destroyed the Leathernecks of Western Illinois in all facets of the game. The defense only had 152 yards total offense. Passing was 48 while the Salukis gave up 104 yards of rushing. The Dawgs had over 500 yards of total offense even though on the ESPN page, there is a 50 yard pass that is missing from the stats for D'Ante Cox. The Salukis had 4 sacks, a fumble recovery for a touchdown. The only flaws in the game for the Salukis were two fumbles. One on the first possession of the game, and then another at the 1 yard line of Western Illinois on a completed pass. The Salukis did this while losing the time of possession to the Leathernecks with only 26:51 compared to Western Illinois' 33:09. Both teams had 2 turnovers. The biggest key to the game was Western Illinois turned the ball over 4 times on downs.
