Flying Private... questions and suggestions
Post Body

So I've racked up over a million miles in business travel, so I've perfected the points/status game when traveling commercial.

The thing is that this is a great option while traveling within the US with the family but the prospect of doing 10 hour flights to Europe and 14 hours to Asia with all the other Airport crap, really doesn't make me feel all warm and fuzzy. We are a family of 4, with one teen and one pre-teen in tow.

So I have a couple of questions:

  1. Is flying private worth it?
  2. If so, what are the best options/deals for flying private? I am not "Own my own jet" rich yet, so good deals are encouraged.
  3. What should I watch out for when looking at flying private?

Thank you all for your advice in advance.

With just the 10 and 14 hour flights you listed youre looking at well over $100k...probably closer to $200k. So decide if thats worth it for you. Very few people can afford to travel privately on the reg. You need to be loaded like over $100M NW for it to be a casual expense.
