Been enjoying this game, and sub reddit, for the past few weeks. Can someone explain mods and online play? FS22 on PS4

Never really played a game like this online before. Do i just dive into a random online game or do i need to be invited? Also i’ve been seeing lots of posts about mods, is this something i can use on PS or are these solely for PC players?
