Anyone have experience herding sheep without dogs? I look after what used to be my dad's land before he passed which is only 12 acres with about 80 sheep and tend to move them just by getting a friend and walking behind them or paying a local farmer to bring his dogs over but they're both a bit of a pain. It's pretty occasional for sharing or selling some but should probably do health checks more regularly.
Should I train them to come to grain? Dont need to grain feed so haven't done that. Have also seen some YouTube videos of drones used for herding, wonder if they get used to it after a few times though. Terrain isn't ideal for motorbikes in all areas either.
Didn't grow up on a farm but planning on keeping the place and the sheep are go lawn mowers so should figure it out better. Any advice appreciated, thanks.
