Hey all!
I have been farming for the last few years and will continue farming this year. I work on small scale, veg farms on Long Island, NY. At the same time, I recently found an opportunity from an older couple that have 3 acres fenced in that they are willing to lease in exchange for keeping the property clean. Its a pretty simple deal and there's no financial requirement from them which makes it quite enticing.
I plan on using this first year to clean up the property, form some permanent beds, fix up the greenhouse, and do some other prep around the property. As I look into which types of business to open, there are just endless options and was curious if you could share what you chose and why?
I'll be keeping my main job and working this on the side, hopefully able to dive in a bit deeper next year when I have it set up a bit more. The farm I'm at now hosts tons of educational events and does quite a bit of donations, I believe I would go a similar route. If you have any other questions or if any info is needed please let me know and thanks so much for your help!
