Post Body

Hey everyone! Got out of the Army a few years ago and was lucky enough to be able to move back home to the Lehigh valley. I’ve been kicking around the idea of getting into farming and I had a few questions I was hoping I could get some feedback on (Not looking to take up too much of your time, just a point in the right direction if possible)

  1. Is there any way to get into profitable farming without having millions on hand? I know there’s VA loans and different types of programs but the descriptions I read of the loans has been vague.

  2. Are there companies or programs that can be hired to provide assistance in navigating a new farm start up?

  3. I’ve read that the magic number for grain farms to be profitable is 140 acres, may be wrong. Is there a minimum acreage for a single family farm to survive on?

  4. Is it even possible for an average person without land to get into farming for themselves and make it a small business?

Thanks for any input, it’s much appreciated!
