It's going to be explained later in my book but I'd like to hear your comments.

For my world prophecy is basically a message, one from the future. You see by drawing an intricate set of seals on a person that will send the message. These people are usually those who has the most important information on the event that needs to be transmitted.

The persons life force is used in sacrifice for this. Thus even non mages can be used.

Seers are those who watch for and interpret the messages however its not a perfect process. You usually only get memories of what's seen, the most resent pressing emotionally charged memories are received. So luckily a few years.
