I’m writing a dark fantasy novel and in it there are these creatures that I just can’t think of a name for.
They live in areas of forests that are dead and bare, and they only come out to hunt at night. They try to mimic wolves but they have fairly humanoid bodies except with digitigrade legs, claws, sharp teeth and no eyes. There bodies are mostly black and emaciated and they have a hard carapace that they can fold over their head to mimic the shape of a wolf’s. They are blind and see mostly through echolocation and they have a sonic scream that they use to defend themselves. They have the intelligence of a stereotypical goblin or something like that (limited language skills and fairly animalistic but still semi-intelligent) and they mostly travel in packs.
I’ve been thinking about it for a while and I just can’t think of what to call them and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas?
