Greetings, people! I won't waste your time so let's dive right into the meat and potatoes of fate and prophecy in my world.

We'll start with prophecy. It is unique spell that basically anyone can learn but few can use. To use it, you must be in tone with the world around you and the magic that dwells in it. Kinda like the force. Once you do, you can view aspects of the best future available to you. This is not the best for you but rather what's available at that moment. See the mana in my world has a will and that will is governed by every living thing. Depending on the scale of your ambitions and what you want to see will depend on how badly it will affect others.

Now, the future you see is not one where everyone is happy but rather the future with the least harm to everyone. Like I said this is the best future as things currently stand. You can never truly obtain this exact future though. That would take knowing everything that will happen. You get the future in fragments, and some are not too clear. The prophecy comes after, claiming everything to be destiny. This is so that it is ensured that we get as close as possible to that future.

Bad guys can't use it. Most people's well being plummet in their schemes so they are shut out. Except my villian, he found a loop hole.
