Discussion on taking players on same team in middle-later rounds
Post Body

In mock drafts one of the strategies I've been utilizing using the Green Bay Packers WR's as an example is.

Taking Allen Lazard in 9th-10th and Christian Watson in 13th. That way you have both top WR options on GB on your bench for next to nothing and see which one comes out on top. One will be at least a WR2 IMO. And once that reveals itself, you can continue to stash the other player or drop him for another option on the wire. Low Risk/High reward strategy. Only caveat would Sammy Watkins randomly coming alive and destroying both lol but i think that is very unlikely at this stage in his career especially without the early round pedigree of Watson and the prior rapport with Rodgers like Lazard.

It's a little more risky due to the earlier draft picks needed. But I've also done the same with Rashaad Penny in the 7th and Walker in the 9th when he's dropped. Especially in a zero RB format, this can be useful because you are guarenteed a starting backfield on a run first team and can withstand injuries without wasting an early round pick to do so.

Thoughts?

Using GB specifically, there’s a reasonable chance none of the WR give you what you’re looking for and it’s just ambiguous week to week. Given the cost it’s not going to kill you, I’d rather just throw darts elsewhere, especially given rookie WR & Rogers in the past. In terms of backfields, I’d prefer to have a handcuff of a different RB, personally.
