Astral Projections: Week 9 Tarot Readings (TNF)
Post Body

My friends, I've been on a long journey and just now return to you. There's little time to chat this week, so let's get right to the draws. Thank you deeply for your continued companionship on this journey into the future.

Notes:

  • I currently use Golden Thread Tarot to save time and better record each read. Some reads in the future might be done with a physical deck.
  • Each player has a single tarot card drawn to inform the question "How will [player name] perform in [week x] of the 2019-2020 NFL season?"
  • The keyword cells relate to a description in Labyrinthos. They are the same descriptions/card illustrations as those in the Golden Thread app and help explain my comments on the card visuals.
  • I'm not experienced in Tarot readings prior to last NFL season.

Here we go!

San Francisco

Position Name Card Keywords Hot Take
QB Jimmy Garoppolo II of Pentacles Balance, priorities, adapting to change Two pentacles in his hands, another two touchdowns game. "A game of balance is what is at work here."
RB Tevin Coleman Knight of Swords - Reversed No direction, disregard for consequence, unpredictability Injury and turnover risk are here. There's a chance for points with the unpredictable and exuberant nature here, but it's not a positive draw.
RB Matt Breida Queen of Pentacles - Reversed Work-life imbalance, smothering One of the hardest cards for me to interpret. It's another poor health card and signals unreliability. Coin flip between Coleman and Breida.
WR Emmanuel Sanders IX of Wands - Reversed Exhaustion, fatigue, reaching burnout The move to SF is taking its toll this week. He's going to get targets this week, but I wouldn't expect huge plays even if the receptions are there. Tired legs.
WR Dante Pettis II of Cups - Reversed Imbalance, broken communication, tension Bad connection between him and someone else this week. Misrun routes are a big fear. I think he is overlooked by Jimmy.
WR Deebo Samuel Queen of Pentacles - Reversed Work life imbalance, smothering Another bad draw for the receivers. Sanders is definitely the only one I'd feel comfortable with, despite exhaustion.
TE George Kittle VII of Cups - Reversed Temptation, diversion, confusion Hm, lots of danger with this draw. I'm concerned for SF as a whole this week in terms of health. I'd temper expectation, but this card still represents random draw so there is gold out there. Downgraded this week.
K Robbie Gould VII of Pentacles - Reversed Work without results, distractions, lack of rewards Terrible.
DST IX of Cups Comfort, emotional stability, Great draw. Start with confidence.

Arizona

Position Name Cards Keywords Hot Take
QB Kyler The Devil - Reversed Freedom, release, restoring control Good draw here. Expect a bounce-back after two fairly low-scoring games. This doesn't signify anything giant (especially with SF DST draw), but his play will be positive. Check in next week.
RB Kenyan Drake Strength Bravery, compassion, focus, inner strength This move is going to be good Drake. After all, he has nudes and a lion, pretty dope. TD incoming.
RB Zach Zenner - of Zenner's Sausages VIII of Pentacles - Reversed No focus, work without results, lack of rewards He'll get play this week, but will hit a brick wall of a defense.
WR Larry Fitz VII of Wands - Reversed Give up, destroyed confidence, feeling overwhelmed Oof. Bad week for Fitz, he's tired and overwhelmed by the D.
WR Christian Kirk Temperance The middle path, patience, finding meaning Fade Fitz, upgrade Kirk. He'll perform coming off an injury, but it doesn't sound like a high scoring game. Flex status.
WR ?
TE Charles Clay IV of Cups - Reversed Boredom, taking for granted, aloofness He's just getting ignored.
K Zane Gonzalez II of Swords DIfficult choices, indecision, stalemate Sounds like Zane is going to have an important kick, but it's a coinflip on making it. I'd stay away due to a clouded result.
DST III of Pentacles teamwork, collaboration, building Wow, they're forming a wall in the card art. The whole D/ST is working together and performing this week. Sounds like a boring, mostly defensive game.
