Astral Projections: Week 4 Tarot Readings (TNF)
Post Body
A new week, a new set of games to interpret. It's time again for us to look into the cards and find fantasy success. Take my hand and follow my lead into the world of fantasy football Tarot.
Notes:
- I currently use Golden Thread Tarot to save time and better record each read. Some reads in the future might be done with a physical deck.
- Each player has a single tarot card drawn to inform the question "How will [player name] perform in [week x] of the 2019-2020 NFL season?"
- The keyword cells relate to a description in Labyrinthos. They are the same descriptions/card illustrations as those in the Golden Thread app and help explain my comments on the card visuals.
- I'm not experienced in Tarot readings prior to last NFL season.
Green Bay Packers
Position | Player Name | Card | Keywords | Hot Take |
---|---|---|---|---|
QB | Aaron Rodgers | The Moon | Unconscious, illusions, intuition | When it comes to Rodgers, I'd trust his intuition. |
RB | Aaron Jones | The Empress - Reversed | Dependence, smothering, emptiness | I like dependence on a player, but coming up empty negates the positives. I don't expect TDs for Jones. |
RB | Jamaal Williams | Knight of Wands | Action, adventure, fearlessness | Mixed draws for both RBs, but at least Williams is looking spry. There's fumble fear here, with him charging in brashly, but I see Williams vulturing a TD. |
WR | Davante Adams | VII of Swords - Reversed | Turn a new leaf, desire to reform, desire to change | I think this is a great card for Adams, despite the implied negativity. He hasn't been playing up to expectations and he's ready to get back into the game. First TD of the season is coming tonight. |
WR | Marquez Valdes-Scantling | The Devil | Excess, materialism, playfulness | The Devil brings chains. Valdes-Scantling downgraded. |
WR | Geronimo Allison | II of Wands | Planning, making plans, discovery | He'll get some looks, but they won't be worth starting him. He's holding points in this card. |
TE | Jimmy Graham | VIII of Cups | Walking away, disillusionment, leaving behind | Bad card for Graham, I'd stay away this week. |
K | Mason Crosby | Queen of Swords - Reversed | Cold-hearted, cruel, bitterness | Interesting draw. I think it bodes well for a kicker to be cold-hearted with laser focus. Good game coming, though not necessarily a lot of fantasy points. |
DST | X of Swords - Reversed | Reviving, rejuvenation, inevitable end | Continue to play them, but things are coming to an end. I don't expect double-digit points. |
Philly Eagles:
Position | Player Name | Card | Keywords | Hot Take |
---|---|---|---|---|
QB | Carson Wentz | VIII of Swords - Reversed | Self-acceptance, new perspective, freedom | Getting Jeffery out there means a lot tonight. Wentz should be playing well. |
RB | Miles Sanders | VI of Swords - Reversed | Emotional baggage, unresolved issues, resisting change | Resisting change points to coaching and management issues in my mind. Sanders is downgraded with this draw. |
RB | Jordan Howard | II of Swords - Reversed | Lesser of two evils, no right choice, confusion | Wow, interesting that this card points to a decision between two. Between two RBs? There's confusion at the RB spot this week and I'd stay away from both if possible. |
WR | Alshon Jeffery | Page of Cups - reversed | Immaturity, escapism, lack of creativity | Be wary of Jeffery. He is enticing to play, but there's heartbreak in the cards. |
WR | Nelson Agholor | VIII of Cups | Walking away, disillusionment, leaving behind | This card sounds and looks bad, but I think it's better than it seems Agholor needs to leave his overall image behind. The mountains suggest profit and I'd be willing to start Agholor in his journey towards them. |
WR | JJ Arcega-Whiteside | VII of Swords | Deception, trickery, turning a blind eye | To me, this points to the theft of points. From Jeffrey, from Agholor, from someone. However, it also sounds like it could be pulled back due to PI. |
TE | Zach Ertz | VI of Pentacles - Reversed | Selfishness, stinginess, debt | Interesting draw. I actually like it for Ertz, the feeding of two hands into one suggests to me that he takes points away from defenders and his teammates. |
K | Jake Elliott | X of Swords | Betrayal, back-stabbing, defeat | Nope, he's getting chopped up. |
DST | The Chariot | Direction, control, willpower | Wow, Eagles poised to snap their poor defensive run. It might not be pretty, but they're playing well this week. I think this plays in to the downgrading of GB's RBs. |
