Astral Projections: Week 5 TNF Tarot Readings
Post Body
It's a me, Super Tariot. Here to flip some cards and make largely clueless interpretations of the universe! Come with me on a journey to fantasy football success, it's time for THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBAHHH!
Take a moment to review week 3 and 4 spreadsheets with accuracy ratings from tometoyou1983 (<33):
Notes:
- I currently use Golden Thread Tarot to save time and better record each read. Some reads in the future might be done with a physical deck.
- Each player has a single tarot card drawn to inform the question "How will [player name] perform in [week x] of the NFL season?"
- Each card cell links to a description in Labyrinthos (this will be added soon). They are the same descriptions/card illustrations as those in the Golden Thread app and help explain my comments on the card visuals.
- I'm not experienced in Tarot readings prior to this season at all.
Now let's get to the action!
Player Position/Name | Card | Keywords | Hot Take |
---|---|---|---|
QB: Andy Luck | VIII of Cups | Walking away, disillusionment, leaving behind | Luck is in better health and ready to move on, but his receivers have left the field behind... He'll look fine, but might not score too many points due to circumstance. Points left on the table. |
RB: Nyheim Hines | The Star - Reversed | Insecurity, discouragement, faithlessness | Hines won't be as great as last week, but he's still going to get volume. We just can't trust him to perform again. Nudes tho! |
RB: Jordan Wilkins | Judgement - Reversed | Lack of self-awareness, doubt, self-loathing | Wilkins can't find the hole this week and gets stuffed a bit. Blindness is core here. |
WR: Ryan Grant | Page of Pentacles | Dreams, desire, new opportunity | Grant has great upside this week, he's coming in with enthusiasm and is likely the best WR play. Luck (heh) is on his side. TD? |
WR: Chester Rogers | VII of Swords - Reversed | Turn a new leaf, desire to reform, desire to change | Mr. Rogers is a bit locked down this week, but should make a couple plays. Mediocre performance. |
WR: Zach Pascal (who are these people???) | Ace of Wands - Reversed | Lack of energy, lack of passion, boredom | Pascal can't be trusted, he's either slow or committing drops. Might get some catches but nothing to rely on. |
TE: Eric Ebron | VI of Pentacles - Reversed | Selfishness, stinginess, debt | Selfishness is good, he'll get fed the ball. But, he's going to be a focus of the defense. debt points to a fumble perhaps? |
K: Vinatieri | X of Wands - Reversed | Inability to delegate, lack of priorities | Might play injured and miss a kick. At least he wants to be on the field. |
D/ST: Dee Estee | Temperance | The middle path, patience, finding meaning | Colts D is putting in work. They might be on the field quite a bit, but they should perform. Better than expected but still middling game. |
THE NEW ENGLAND AMERICAN PATRIOTICS
Player Position/Name | Card | Keywords | Hot Take |
---|---|---|---|
QB: Thomas Brady | VIII of Swords | Imprisonment, powerlessness, self-victimization | Brady is pissed that he hasn't been up to par most of the season. He'll be fine, but don't expect a high-end performance. Mediocre game inc. |
RB: James White | IX of Wands - Reversed | Exhaustion, fatigue, reaching burnout | White is going to get quite a few targets this week, but don't expect tons of YAC, he's tired. He'll push through but is slowed. |
RB: Sony Michelstation | IX of Swords | Anxiety, hopelessness, nightmares | Sony looked good last week, but he's not there mentally this week. Trying to do too much and can't decide where to cut. Not a second 100 yard rushing performance. |
WR: Phillip Dorsett | IV of Cups | Apathy, contemplation, disconnectedness | Dorsett is going to get a few great looks, but likely won't come down with the majority. He's not playing locked-in, not worth the $ in DFS. |
WR: JOSH GORDON | The Wheel of Fortune | Change, cycles, inevitable fate | I think this card exemplifies Gordon. We just don't know how he'll perform, but he's been down a lot lately and is prime for a solid performance. Risk it all on Jash? |
WR: Julian Edelman | V of Swords | Unbridled ambition, win at all costs, sneakiness. | Edelman looks to perform this week, he's got a sword. But it's coming at some risk. Injury perhaps? There's consequence here that isn't obvious. |
WR: Hogan's Heroes | The High Priestess | Intuition, unconscious, inner voice | Hogan is going through some internal changes. He can't be trusted to get targets, but he's getting his head in the right space. Good efficiency if he gets targets. |
TE: Graaaaahnk | Ace of Cups - Reversed | Wasted emotions, blocked creativity, emptiness | Oof. "Drained of the powers that it could potentially give." Don't expect to get saved by Gronk. |
K: Gostkowski | III of Swords - Reversed | Recovery, forgiveness, moving on | Solid play this week, trust in the Gost. |
D/ST: D'fense Speshalteems | The Fool - Reversed | Recklessness, being taken advantage of, inconsideration | They're going to give up a few big plays that they shouldn't. I think the Colts play themselves more than they get affected by the D. |
