Hi guys, just wanted to let you know that the matchup heatmaps over on macker.co have been updated for the first time this season! (Note it's still very early in the season, so take results more as hints rather than truth)
For those who haven't seen them before, they're a set of charts that I've been creating for a few years that are meant to give you a quick glance at upcoming schedules for your players. The Projection Charts are meant to give you a rough estimate to what a team will score fantasy point wise for a given week in a position while the Matchup Charts simply look at the defensive side of the equation and give you a /- on how good or bad the match up is.
That said, they aren't super comprehensive projections, and they don't take into account roster changes and injuries so you still have to use your brain a bit. But they can be very useful part of your fantasy tool belt, in particular for planning streaming options or trading guys who have tough upcoming or playoff schedules to gain an advantage there.
You can also sort the chart by clicking any of the columns and if you click a cell you'll get a breakdown of year to date for the team in that position and against that week's opponents in that position.
Anyway, its my wife's birthday so I didn't have time to do a big write up this week. Hoping to come back next week with some recommendations and analysis, which will probably be a bit more confident in once we get another week of data.
As always thanks for checking it out, I appreciate the support over the years, hope you continue to find them useful!
If you have any questions about them let me know and I'll try and answer what I can!
ps: There will be rolling projection charts again this year, I've just taken down the links for them until week 6. These are useful for when there's been major changes, such as new starting QBs, etc, as they only look at the past 4 weeks rather than the whole season. But we'll get more into those once they're useful.
edit: Oh ya forgot to add, looking for ideas on how to make it a bit more mobile friendly, right now if you hover over a number in the chart it'll tell you the opponent for that week, not sure how to best make that info available for mobile users but if you have an idea let me know!
