Astral Projections: Thursday Night Tarot (Week 3)
Post Body
It's the best time of the day my friends, time to consult my ninja info cards for hot takes from the stars! Let's do some sweet, sweet Thursday Night NFL Tarot readings!
If you're not up to speed:
- I currently use Golden Thread Tarot to save time and better record each read. Some reads in the future might be done with a physical deck.
- Each player has a single tarot card drawn to inform the question "How will [player name] perform in Week x of the NFL season?"
- Each card cell links to a description in Labyrinthos. They are the same descriptions/card illustrations as those in the Golden Thread app and help explain my comments on the card visuals.
- I'm not experienced in Tarot readings prior to this season at all.
- You can find week 2 TNF readings here and week 2 Sun/Mon here.
Here we go!
Position | Player Name | Card | Keywords | Hot Take |
---|---|---|---|---|
QB | Sam Darnold | V of Wands - Reversed | Self-doubt, lack of recognition, punishment | Darnold has been getting the public recognition, but he's also been punished a bit with three interceptions. I expect to see some of the same as he's still not playing with full confidence. |
RB | Bilol Powell | The Hierophant | Tradition, conformity, morality and ethics | Powell looked good in the receiving game last week while nobody performed well on the ground. I look for him to continue his unpredictable play with some level of success. |
RB | Isaiah Crowell | Knight of Swords | Action, speed, ambition | "...he is propelled forward with unbridled ambition." Sounds nice! Though it may also show recklessness. The Crow is primed for a big play. |
WR | R. Anderson | IV of Cups | Apathy, contemplation, disconnectedness | I think most expected Anderson to perform better this year, sadly this card doesn't suggest he'll turn things around. The opportunity is there, but Robby still won't be too effective. |
WR | Kearse | IX of Swords | Anxiety, hopelessness, nightmares | Nightmare performance incoming? He's not ready to start yet. |
WR | Enunwa | IV of Pentacles | Conservation, security, frugality | Stinginess is never a good sign for fantasy performance. Enunwa has been seeing the targets lately. He'll be in line for mostly short passes this week, limited on big plays. |
WR | Pryor | Page of Pentacles | Dreams, desire, new opportunity | With Anderson not seeing a ton of work, Pryor is here to capitalize. He's ready to take advantage and comes into this game with good luck. |
TE: | Tomlinson | Queen of Wands - Reversed | Selfishness, jealousy, demanding | "represents all of the negative of a determined, bold character." Often bad, but in fantasy can be good. Sadly for a low-usage player I think it points to not having his head in the game. |
D/ST | J-E-T-S | Queen of Wands | Courage, determination, joy | Good sign for the Jets D! "in the face of adversity is an inspiration to all around her." Even if the offense has a rough one, Jets D will be putting in work. |
Position | Player Name | Card | Keywords | Hot Take |
---|---|---|---|---|
QB | Tyrod Taylor | The Sun | Joy, success, celebration, positivity | The Browns are getting ever closer to a win. It's entirely possible that this is their week with Tyrod playing positively. Far better outlook than Darnold. |
RB | Carlos Hyde | III of Wands | Looking ahead, expansion, rapid growth | Hyde has been Mr. Consistent for the Browns and looks to expand his game even more. He's dedicated to being the lead back in Cleveland and should be a good play against the Jets. |
RB | Duke Johnson | II of Cups - Reversed | Imbalance, broken communication, tension | Having a lasting and equal partnership is difficult here." You don't need to hear much else, Duke needs to put in more work to see any value. Not a good play this week. |
WR | Jarvis Landry | Queen of Swords - Reversed | Cold hearted, cruel, bitterness | If he plays he's playing with ice water in his veins. I think Landry has a great game and looks sharp as the queen's sword. |
WR | A. Calllaway | Queen of Cups | Compassion, calm, comfort | Calm and comfortable has not been something the Browns have shown much of in recent memory. Josh Gordon's departure and Callaway's beginning might finally bring some. Solid play. |
WR | R. Higgins | VII of Swords - Reversed | Turn a new leaf, desire to reform, desire to change | Higgins is getting a huge shot right now. But, it doesn't sound like he's ready to take advantage. I wouldn't play him this week, Callaway all the way. |
TE | Njoku | Page of Wands | Exploration, excitement, freedom | This week is Njoku's week. He's not going to lead the team in FPs or TDs, but this is the start of his journey. Look for him to have a solid game, suggesting better performance as the season continues. |
D/ST: | Browntown | II of Pentacles | Balance, priorities, adapting to change | Balanced d/st sounds nice this week. I don't think this suggests an amazing fantasy performance, but a good game performance at least. They'll deal with the Jets, but they're not the sneakiest play around. |
