This will be the 8th year I serve as commissioner for my 12-man, extremely competitive league of dorks from college. We're pretty progressive and are finally moving to .5 PPR this season, but one area we've always been behind in is having a solid playoff tiebreaker.
We've gone with the basics before: most starting QB points, most points from starting RB/WR/TE/FLEX combination, most starting D/ST points, most starting K points. None of these feel adequate, especially when someone's season could come down to the performance of one player in one given week.
There are obvious problems with bench points-you can stack QBs to increase your odds, for example. I'm also not in favor of going back to some stat from the regular season to determine a playoff matchup.
In your experience, what is the best playoff matchup tiebreaker and why?
