Lapsed fan re-books the worst part of Summerslam 2021
Post Body

I can't stop thinking about how I - someone who hasn't been exposed to Becky Lynch since Wrestlemania 35 - could have booked her return leagues better than what we saw last night. I'm sure a lot of people are having similar thoughts, and fantasy booking is always fun, so I wanna put my concepts into the ether and make sure I'm not crazy.

(Background on me: I still catch wind of news and results and watch the big PPVs, but ultimately I stopped watching television in 2018, so please excuse me if some of these details don't quite add up, or if I've misread the pulse of what fans are generally looking for out of Becky or any other woman mentioned in this booking).

Summerslam: Becky vs Bianca does not happen on this show. That's probably the last way I would bring Becky back; the idea of beating either of these women on this night makes no sense to me. Instead, Bianca successfully defends against Zelina Vega. Zelina and Carmella attack Bianca after the match, and Becky comes to the rescue. Fairly standard babyface return.

August/September: Becky makes it clear that she has her sights set on Bianca's title, but Sasha obviously hasn't forgotten about her title match, and Zelina and Carmella are also looking for revenge. There's a 3 on 2 elimination match made for Extreme Rules. Becky and Bianca work well as a team, with Becky eliminating Carmella and Bianca eliminating Zelina, but Sasha eliminates Bianca immediately after with a brass knuckles shot. The fresher Sasha then ultimately gets one over Becky to win the match.

October: The Bianca/Sasha rematch happens at... Crown Jewel *spits* with Bianca retaining. I'm assuming the match is allowed to happen there - if not, it'll just have to happen on a Smackdown. Meanwhile, Becky racks up some wins on television, presenting a noticeably toned down version of her 'The Man' character.

November: While Bianca builds to a match with whoever the Raw Women's Champion is, Becky begins a program with Sonya Deville (who I assume is still capable of wrestling). We get backstage segments of Sonya being cold or dismissive towards Becky without it being clear why. Becky has to earn her way onto the women's team at Survivor Series, where she is the last woman eliminated for Smackdown.

December: Bianca has a new challenger, be it Bloodline Naomi or a new acquisition from the draft or whoever else. Meanwhile, annoyed at the Smackdown women's loss, Sonya starts to go in on Becky. Sonya is disappointed in what she's seeing from this supposed women's megastar. She isn't seeing the Becky who main-evented Wrestlemania, but rather the Becky who was the least important horsewoman. "Motherhood has softened you" etc. Basically, it's a heel-ish prick boss for Becky to vanquish at the December PPV, and an excuse to re-inject the 'Man' energy into her in time for...

Road to Wrestlemania: Becky vs Bianca is the destination, get there how you like. It's already a massive improvement over what we saw last night, so it's time for me to make like a tree and get outta here!
