How do you set boundaries without feeling like the "Bad Guy" in your family? 42F
Post Body

I have two toddlers (3 and 4 years old), and while my immediate family is generally supportive, there’s a lot of ongoing drama with some of our extended relatives (parents, siblings, etc.) that’s been affecting us lately.

It feels like everyone has an opinion on how I should raise my kids, what’s best for our family, and how I should be handling everything. I get unsolicited advice ALL the time, and honestly, it’s starting to get to me. Some days it feels like no matter what I do, someone is either criticizing or questioning my choices. I try to be respectful and open, but it’s getting harder to maintain that balance without feeling drained and resentful.

I want to keep good relationships with my family, but I also need to set clearer boundaries. How do you deal with overbearing relatives? How do you set boundaries while keeping the peace? I don’t want to be the "bad guy," but I also can’t keep letting everyone push their way into my decisions.

Any advice on navigating family dynamics like this would be greatly appreciated!
