Ok, so for context, my (41M) son (16M) told me he's going to go live with his girlfriend (19F). We currently live in Muncie, Indiana, and my son's girlfriend moved to Des Moines, Iowa for college. While in school, she is a Customer Service Representative at a local company in Des Moines, earning enough to comfortably rent a modest apartment. Her parents are also well off financially, so they helped her with rent and furnishing.
We also have another son (14M). They don't really get along, and my older son came to me and told me that he needs space from us and plans to go live with his girlfriend. He wants to either drop out of his current school and get a GED or go to a public school in Iowa. I don't know what to do. I told my son I want him to stay with us, and he just doesn't care.
I went to my wife (40F), and she said that we should let it happen. My wife feels sympathy for our son and thinks maybe this might be better for him in the long run. What should I do?
I would first contact this girl’s parents to see if they have agreed to financially supporting your son
