I left country of origin over 10 years ago as a student. Had to leave school due to low money but worked my way to get my degree and citizenship. My family members back home have been struggling for years and have either been stagnant or regressed. My dad in particular has had an alcohol problem for 40 years and constantly gives sob stories about the government which his been doing since I was a child. Him and my mum aren't together but she tells me how he's only seen my sister once in a year and avoided her because she needed help in finances. My sister tells me that he even joked about my high salary one time. I once helped him with his medical bill and he joked a "wise saying" about how the child's first salary should go to a parent.
What angers me about my dad was how it was so difficult to get money from him to get stuff that me and my sister wanted but there was always money for alcohol. That last message really pissed me off and I felt somewhat repulsed. I'm also disappointed with how everyone has been struggling, like I know the economys difficult but how can someone be stuck in the same position for 12 years. My dad couldn't keep a job because he always brought up politics and got fired. My mum never pursed a proper college degree and my sister has never been good in academics.
It's like they are all waiting on me to succeed so that they can obtain citizenship and other benefits.
